I was never really sold on the whole art journal thing, to be honest. I had been kind of using mine as a testing ground for different things I wanted to try... because I honestly didn't know what to write in it. I don't really think everyday blahbitty is very artistic and I'm not a fan of putting my deep thoughts out there for all to see.
Sometimes, though, you just have to write down a bunch of bile to get it out of your brain. Which is something I did a few months back in a notebook. I was just about to shred the evidence when I had the idea to hide it in plain sight.
So here it is:
I cut up the notebook pages into various organic... uh... blobby shapes and overlapped them.
I covered it up with oil pastels and then some clear gesso. But I didn't cover it ALL up so there's just a peek at my crazy ranting... helped with the mood of the painting I think. You can try to read what it says... IF YOU DARE!

What a cool idea! I struggle with keeping a journal. I want to yet I really don't want any of my rants to be down on paper where anyone could pick them up and read them. I really like this idea...
